Are you an experienced HR professional with strong employee relations knowledge, excellent people skills, and a proactive approach to problem-solving? An established organisation is seeking a People Advisor to join its People team on a 12-month fixed-term contract, helping to deliver a professional, customer-focused HR service across a diverse workforce.

This is an excellent opportunity to work in a collaborative environment where you'll provide expert advice and support to managers and employees while contributing to key people initiatives and organisational projects.

Working Pattern

This role operates on a hybrid basis, with three days per week in the office and two days working from home. The successful candidate will be required to attend multiple office locations across the region in line with business requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a varied employee relations caseload, providing practical and legally compliant advice to managers and employees.
  • Support performance management processes, including capability cases, development planning, and data-led decision making.
  • Lead attendance management activities, including absence monitoring, return-to-work discussions, and long-term absence case management.
  • Provide guidance on policies, procedures, employment legislation, and HR best practice.
  • Build effective relationships with managers and stakeholders, acting as a trusted advisor on people matters.
  • Work collaboratively with operational and corporate teams to ensure a consistent and high-quality HR service.
  • Support recruitment, retention, talent development, and apprenticeship initiatives.
  • Contribute to the delivery of people strategies, organisational change programmes, and transformation projects.
  • Identify learning and development needs and coordinate appropriate training solutions.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential employee records, ensuring data integrity and compliance requirements are met.
  • Foster positive relationships with employee representatives and trade unions where applicable.
  • Promote efficient working practices and continuous improvement across HR processes.
  • Ensure all activities align with health and safety, equality, diversity, inclusion, and safeguarding principles.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • CIPD Level 5 qualification (or be working towards it) or equivalent HR experience.
  • Experience in a People/HR Advisory role covering a broad range of employee relations matters.
  • Strong knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice.
  • Experience supporting managers with performance, attendance, conduct, and capability issues.
  • Excellent communication, influencing, and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and manage competing demands.
  • A high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Experience working with a range of stakeholders; experience working alongside trade unions would be advantageous.
  • Knowledge of apprenticeship programmes and talent development initiatives would be beneficial.
  • Strong IT skills and confidence using HR systems and people data.
  • A resilient, customer-focused, and solution-oriented approach.
