Working on behalf of a well-established and growing groundworks contractor, currently looking to appoint an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team. This is an excellent opportunity to join a reputable contractor delivering high-quality groundworks and civil engineering packages across residential and commercial developments, with the added benefit of gaining exposure to estimating as part of the role.

The Role

As Quantity Surveyor, you will take responsibility for the commercial management of multiple groundworks projects from pre-contract through to final account. You’ll work closely with operational teams, clients, and subcontractors to ensure projects are delivered on budget and in line with contractual requirements. You will also have the opportunity to support the pre-construction team, gaining valuable experience in estimating and tendering activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing project costs from inception to completion
  • Preparing, reviewing, and negotiating subcontractor packages
  • Valuations, variations, and final accounts
  • Cost reporting and forecasting
  • Liaising with clients, site teams, and commercial management
  • Ensuring compliance with contractual terms and risk management
  • Supporting tendering, pricing, and estimating activities
  • Assisting with procurement strategies

What we are looking for in the successful candidate

  • Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within groundworks or civil engineering
  • Strong understanding of NEC and/or JCT contracts
  • Commercially astute with excellent negotiation skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Degree in Quantity Surveying
