We are currently recruiting on behalf of a well-established and growing multi-disciplinary engineering and construction contractor for an experienced Civils Project Manager.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Civil Engineering professional to take responsibility for the successful delivery of a range of civil engineering projects, working closely with clients, subcontractors, site teams and internal departments.

The successful candidate will ideally have a strong background in civil engineering project delivery, alongside some estimating/commercial experience.

You will be comfortable managing projects from initial enquiry and pricing through to delivery and completion.

This is a varied role suited to someone who enjoys being involved in both the commercial and operational aspects of civil engineering projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage civil engineering projects from initial enquiry and estimating through to completion.
  • Take overall responsibility for project delivery, ensuring works are completed safely, on time, within budget and to the required quality standards.
  • Prepare, review and contribute to project estimates, tenders, quotations and budgets.
  • Review specifications, drawings, scopes of work and client requirements.
  • Develop project programmes, resource plans and delivery strategies.
  • Manage project costs, budgets, variations and commercial performance.
  • Liaise with clients, consultants, subcontractors and suppliers throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Coordinate site teams, labour, plant, materials and subcontractors.
  • Monitor project progress and provide regular updates to senior management and clients.
  • Identify and manage project risks, opportunities and potential commercial issues.
  • Ensure projects comply with relevant health & safety, environmental and quality requirements.
  • Manage subcontractor performance and ensure works are delivered in accordance with agreed specifications.
  • Attend site meetings, client meetings and project progress meetings.
  • Review project documentation and ensure all necessary records are maintained.
  • Support the business with future tenders, estimating and business development opportunities.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with existing and prospective clients.
  • Ensure projects are properly handed over and closed out upon completion.

The successful candidate will ideally have

  • Proven experience as a Project Manager within civil engineering or construction.
  • Strong knowledge of civil engineering construction methods and practices.
  • Experience delivering projects from inception through to completion.
  • Previous experience in estimating, tendering or preparing quotations.
  • Good commercial awareness and an understanding of project costs and margins.
  • Experience managing subcontractors, suppliers, site teams and resources.
  • Strong understanding of project programmes, budgets and cost control.
  • Ability to read and understand civil engineering drawings, specifications and scopes of work.
  • Excellent communication and client management skills.
  • Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities.
  • A proactive and commercially minded approach.
  • Relevant qualifications in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or a related discipline would be advantageous.
  • SMSTS, CSCS or equivalent construction qualifications would be advantageous.
  • A full UK driving licence.

  • Civil works associated with mechanical, structural and engineering projects
