Full-time Bilingual Spanish Social Worker (Manhattan Children’s Program)

We are currently looking for a Full‑time Bilingual Spanish Social Worker to support our Manhattan Children’s Program at ADAPT Community Network.

SUMMARY

The Social Worker provides critical support to individuals and families navigating illness and disabilities.

This role helps resolve personal, financial, and environmental challenges while adhering to ADAPT policies, regulatory requirements, and professional standards.

The Social Worker empowers families to understand and negotiate educational and clinical systems, advocates for their needs, and collaborates with other disciplines to ensure a comprehensive continuum of care and support.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Participate in the Adapt Intake Processes.
• Develop case notes, case summaries, and social histories for each student on the caseload, including appropriate recommendations.
• Assist families in obtaining services such as housing, residential placement, food stamps, Medicaid, assistive technology services, respite services, family reimbursement, camp, and vacation referrals.
• Integrate therapeutic intervention techniques into school programs or the home of students served, consulting with parents/guardians and staff at meetings, case conferences, or through informal contacts.
• Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and annual reviews to plan, implement, and monitor IEPs.
• Provide emotional and behavioral support to students, particularly those with disabilities.
• Lead the school’s efforts to ensure students receive necessary social‑emotional resources and the emotional support needed for academic, social, and emotional success.
• Facilitate communication with families and/or caregivers concerning attendance, transportation, medical status, clearance, and other issues.
• Conduct parent trainings and monthly workshops for parents in conjunction with multidisciplinary team members.
• Respond promptly to family concerns and provide guidance on available resources.
• Document the status of all active cases.
• Assist with arrival and dismissal, feeding, bathrooming, and classroom management as needed.
• Keep abreast of changes and research in the field of Social Work.
• Ensure confidentiality of all information regarding students and families receiving services.
• Communicate with staff about goals, rights of persons receiving services, confidentiality, and family interaction.
• Participate in activities related to student transitioning and the Turning‑Five Process.
• Serve as a member of interdisciplinary team meetings, annual reviews, parent meetings, Special Review Committee meetings, in‑services, and similar events as required.
• Participate in in‑service training programs as required.
• Provide supervision and training for Social Work interns and novice Social Workers.
• Attend professional meetings and conferences.
• Perform other related duties as requested.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Read, write, speak, and understand English; bilingual Spanish a plus.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Good interpersonal skills for interacting with employees, co‑workers, students, families, and outside contacts.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to meet deadlines.
• Proficient use of a personal computer and related software.
• Ability to maintain strict confidentiality due to the sensitive nature of the position.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to multi‑task.
• Flexible work hours.
• Sound judgment and capacity to respond to unusual situations.
• Analytical skills to identify problems and determine corrective actions.
• Availability Monday‑Friday, 8 a. m.–3 p. m.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

• Master’s degree in Social Work from an accredited program.
• NYS Licensed Social Worker with at least one year of prior experience as a Social Worker (preferred).
• LICENSE/CERTIFICATION
• New York State Bilingual Spanish Extension.
• New York State Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW).
• Individuals with New York State Certification in Social Work (CSW) that was automatically converted to LMSW are also eligible.

COMPENSATION

$43.02 per hour + $1,500 sign‑on bonus + industry‑leading benefits.
