The Role
We're looking for a proactive, relationship-driven Business Development Manager to acquire and manage B2B clients - including NHS trusts, local authorities, care home groups, housing associations, occupational therapy teams, charities, and private healthcare providers - across the UK. This is a new-business-focused role. You'll be responsible for identifying opportunities, building relationships with key decision-makers, winning contracts and tenders and establishing Adapt A Home as a preferred supplier for organisations that need mobility equipment, installation and maintenance services at scale.
Key Responsibilities
- New Business Development
- Identify, prospect and win new B2B clients across target sectors: NHS trusts and hospitals, local authorities/social services, care home groups, housing associations, charities and private healthcare/OT providers
- Build and manage a strong sales pipeline from lead generation through to contract close
- Develop and execute a B2B business development strategy aligned with company growth targets, including plans for expansion beyond London & the Home Counties
- Relationship & Account Management
- Build long-term relationships with procurement teams, occupational therapists, care managers, facilities managers and other key stakeholders
- Act as the primary point of contact for new institutional clients, ensuring a smooth handover to account management/servicing teams' post-sale
- Represent Adapt A Home at industry events, exhibitions, NHS/local authority supplier days and networking forums
- Identify and respond to public sector tenders and framework opportunities (NHS Supply Chain, local authority frameworks etc.)
- Prepare compelling proposals, quotes and tender submissions, working with the wider team on pricing, compliance documentation and case studies
- Negotiate contract terms, pricing structures and service level agreements with institutional buyers
- Market & Commercial Development
- Research and map target sectors and regions to prioritise business development activity
- Monitor competitor activity and market trends (e.g. stairlift, hoist, and home adaptation providers) to identify positioning opportunities
- Feed market and client insight back into product, pricing and service development
- Support the company's approach to accreditations and approved-supplier status (e.g. council frameworks, NHS approval, Which? Trusted Trader, ISO standards) that unlock institutional business
- Reporting
- Maintain accurate records of pipeline, activity and forecasts in the CRM
- Report regularly on new business performance, conversion rates and revenue against targets
What We're Looking For
- Proven track record in B2B business development / sales, ideally 5+ years, with demonstrable experience winning new institutional or contract-based clients
- Experience selling into or working with the NHS, local authorities, care sector, housing associations or healthcare/medical equipment industry
- Strong track record of hitting or exceeding new business targets
- Excellent relationship-building, negotiation and presentation skills
- Confident preparing tender/proposal documentation and navigating procurement processes
- Self-starter, comfortable working autonomously and covering a wide geographic territory
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel regularly (site visits, client meetings, exhibitions)
- Existing network of contacts within NHS procurement, adult social care, OT services, care home groups or housing associations
- Experience in mobility equipment, healthcare equipment, assistive technology or home adaptations/building trades
- Understanding of public sector procurement frameworks and tender processes
- Experience helping a regional business expand into new UK territories
