The Junior Buyer role is responsible for buying and running a department or range within Adanola, reporting directly into the Senior Buyer/Head of Buying. They will work together with the Merchandiser, as well as Design, Brand and Marketing and with the support of the Senior Buyer/Head of Buying are responsible for the delivery of commercial performance and brand growth, with the aim to deliver a profitable, customer-centric range.

Key Responsibilities

  • Working with the Designer & Merchandiser, delivers a commercial and profitable range which is relevant to the Adanola customer globally.
  • Competitor & Brand awareness, understands the importance of global trends and competitor pricing strategies, uses this knowledge to build the range.
  • Understands and analyses department figures, actively trades the department whilst continually reviewing changes in performance and taking appropriate actions to minimise impact and maximise profit.
  • Confidently negotiate prices with suppliers through holding strong relationships and good negotiation skills.
  • Accountable for achieving department KPI’s on sales/margins/stocks/newness levels with the guidance of a Senior Buyer/Head of Buying.
  • Working closely with the Merchandiser & Designer, develops department strategy to maximise profit and deliver a product range in line with Adanola’s top line product strategy and aligns with business goals.
  • Work with Heads of Product to agree department budgets, forecast and frameworks.
  • Develops a critical path to achieve department deadlines, ensuring meetings are in line with supplier lead times to deliver the range at the right time.
  • Range build and present in Sign Off meetings, in line with budgets and department strategy.
  • Lead, motivate and develop the team to be a high performing, happy and successful team.
  • Responsible for the supply base, reviewing risks and opportunities, maximising margin benefits & product quality improvements where possible.
  • Building strong strategic supplier partnerships.
  • Plan and complete buying and inspiration trips.
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams; developing strong working relationships with direct points of contact to positively impact your department and the buying function.
  • Set clear expectations and create a shared purpose within your team.
  • Have awareness of your own leadership style and an ability to adapt your approach to engage and motivate your team.
  • Provide regular balanced feedback to recognise great work, and deal with any issues before they escalate.

About you

  • Currently operating as an established Assistant buyer or at Junior Buyer level with a strong buying career to-date within the fashion industry.
  • Have good commercial awareness alongside a creative eye for product and trends.
  • Strong negotiation skills.
  • You have a growth mindset, you naturally see opportunity, positivity and room to develop.
  • The ability to hold effective, genuine and strong relationships with both your internal stakeholders and external partners/suppliers.
  • Team player.
  • Adaptable to change.
  • Excellent communication skills.
