We are seeking an experienced Solicitor with a strong track record of managing a busy and varied workload, who also has a genuine passion for developing and supporting a team. This is an exciting opportunity to lead the Lewes Residential Property team, taking responsibility for both its operational and strategic direction. You will work with a high-quality and diverse client base, including individuals, landed estates, developers and portfolio owners, and will oversee complex, high-value transactions.

Your Role Will Involve:

  • Fee Earning
  • Managing a broad caseload including sales, purchases, re‑mortgages, refinancing, transfers of equity, equity release, new leases, lease extensions and general property advice.
  • Handling all conveyancing matters efficiently and professionally from initial instruction to completion.
  • Providing clear and commercially focused legal advice to high net worth clients on complex property matters.
  • Conducting thorough due diligence and preparing legal documentation with a high level of accuracy.
  • Building trusted relationships with clients, estate agents and other key stakeholders to ensure smooth and timely transactions.
  • Keeping up to date with relevant legislation and market developments affecting the residential property sector.

Management

  • Reviewing and enhancing working practices, processes and workflows within the team.
  • Providing clear guidance, supervision and mentoring to team members.
  • Taking responsibility for the professional development of the team by ensuring that regular performance reviews and 1 to 1 meetings are carried out.
  • Supporting business development activity and nurturing strong client relationships.
  • Ensuring regulatory compliance, effective risk management and high-quality standards across the team.
  • Identifying and driving opportunities for innovation, efficiency and cross-team collaboration.

What We Are Looking For:

  • A qualified Solicitor with a minimum of 8 years PQE within residential property law.
  • Previous experience of managing a team.
  • Adaptable, accurate with the ability to work to tight deadlines.
  • Exceptional focus on client care, excellent communication skills and willingness to go above and beyond.
  • Proactive, resilient and solutions-driven, able to work independently while collaborating effectively in team settings.
