Are you a hands-on procurement professional based in the UK, looking for a role where you can help build a supply chain function from the ground up within a fast-growing international FMCG business? We are looking for a Junior Buyer / Procurement Officer on behalf of our client, the UK subsidiary of a global food brand expanding rapidly across Europe.
Key Responsibilities
- Intercompany Procurement
- Own the purchasing process for all product orders placed with the manufacturing entity overseas, in line with global supply agreements, HQ allocation decisions, and supply chain planning requirements.
- Ensure orders are placed accurately, on time, and within agreed commercial and operational parameters.
- Monitor supply risks and take proactive steps to prevent order or delivery failures.
- Purchase Order Process and ERP Administration
- Drive the full procurement cycle from order creation through to receipt and confirmation, maintaining accurate and up-to-date records in SAP at every stage.
- Issue purchase orders, verify order details, and ensure all documentation is complete and correct.
- Maintain a clear and reliable audit trail of procurement activity.
- Cross-Functional Coordination
- Act as an independent point of contact for internal teams, including sales, logistics, and finance, providing objective updates, flagging issues, and keeping procurement activity aligned with business needs.
- Communicate proactively with the sales team to keep the ordering process optimised around commercial priorities.
- Coordinate with logistics on import clearances and inbound shipment tracking.
- Supply Chain Process Development
- Support the setup and formalisation of SCM processes within the UK entity, in line with the existing global framework.
- Identify areas where process improvements or better documentation can reduce risk or increase efficiency.
- Work closely with the Supply Chain Lead, based in the Netherlands, to ensure the procurement function scales as the business grows.
Qualifications & Skills
- Professional fluency in English, written and spoken.
- 1 to 2 years of hands-on experience in a buying, procurement, or supply chain coordination role within FMCG.
- Proven working knowledge of SAP for order management and documentation.
- Comfortable working 5 days onsite in the office.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel.
- Solid data entry accuracy and attention to detail for managing order records.
- Comfortable operating independently within a small, lean team where processes are still being built.
- Confident communicator able to coordinate across sales, finance, and logistics on your own initiative.
- Familiarity with intercompany or international supply chain processes, including import clearances and direct-from-manufacturer flows, is an advantage.
- Prior experience in an overseas subsidiary reporting into a head office in a different country is a meaningful advantage.
What We Offer
- Salary range of GBP 33,000 to GBP 41,000 gross per year, depending on experience.
- 25 days of annual leave per year, in addition to UK bank holidays.
- Pension plan with 5% employer contribution and a minimum 3% employee contribution.

- Company phone and laptop.
- Fully office-based role, 5 days per week, at the Wimbledon office. Core hours run from an 08:00 to 08:30 start through to around 17:30.
- Permanent contract directly with the client, following a 3-month probationary period.
- Newly created role within a UK entity that is being built from the start, with direct visibility to senior leadership and genuine ownership of how the procurement function takes shape.
