We’re looking for a commercial technical manager to build trusted, technically credible relationships with independent agronomists (IAs) and distributor-employed advisors within the territory. The Commercial Technical Manager creates genuine demand for ADAMA's product portfolio—converting technical expertise and agronomic credibility into product specification and pull through the distributor channel. This is a commercial role with a technical foundation, where the CTM works as an integrated partner to the National Account Manager (NAM) to ensure that agronomist engagement directly supports the commercial goals of the customer relationship.

As part of the role, you will:

  • Set up and execute the territory market approach: Aligns on objectives set for each distributor account with the relevant National Account Manager, ensuring agronomist engagement activity supports commercial goals.
  • Manage key technical and advisory relationships: Owns a named portfolio of Category 2 and 3 independent agronomists, conducting structured face-to-face visits, quarterly phone calls, and technical briefings twice annually to grow trust.
  • Drive commercial promotions and demand creation: Actively participates in commercial campaign execution, identifies key seasonal opportunity windows (disease pressure, crop stage), and generates product specifications logged via Salesforce.
  • Provide distributor commercial technical support: Supports distributor agronomist teams with product training, usage guidance, and in-season troubleshooting, while identifying knowledge gaps to propose targeted training.
  • Manage field trials and demonstration programmes: Establishes and manages demonstration plots and field trials, collaborating with the Technical Marketing Lead to ensure robust trial design, and presents data to independent and distributor agronomists.
  • Gather and report market and competitive intelligence: Systematically captures and logs competitive intelligence (competitor activity, pricing, perceptions) and feeds structured reports to the commercial and marketing teams.
  • Maintain professional development and technical knowledge: Keeps agronomic knowledge refreshed by participating in internal training and attending industry events (such as NIAB TAG, ADAS), while maintaining BASIS and NRoSO accreditations.
  • Ensure administrative and CRM compliance: Maintains up-to-date records of all contacts, visits, and specifications in Salesforce, participating in team calls and quarterly territory reviews.

Commercial responsibility for designated customer account to cover off that they will be looking after a specific account.

Requirements

Education and Experience: At least a BASIS Certificate in Crop Protection (FACTS, NRoSO, or a degree in agriculture/life sciences is desirable); At least 3 plus years of experience in an agronomic, technical, or field sales role within the UK agricultural inputs market; Up-to-date practical knowledge across cereals, OSR, and sugar beet crop protection; Direct experience working with independent agronomists and managing trial plots is highly desirable.

Knowledge and Skills: Strong communication, interpersonal, and collaborative skills to build deep, trusted relationships with independent agronomists and distributor partners; Strong commercial awareness with an understanding of commercial drivers, distributor dynamics, and customer segmentation; Ability to gather market developments and competitive intelligence and translate them into actionable insight for the commercial team; Self-directed and determined to achieve commercial results through technical pull-creation; Strong presentation and technical training capabilities.
