Dating back to the mid-18th century, Adam & Eve is a well-loved Homerton pub with indoor seating, a beer garden and a large roof terrace (heaters and coverings for winter). We serve great food (resident kitchen: Krapow), host regular gigs, events and private hires, and pride ourselves on a warm, inclusive atmosphere for locals and visitors alike.
Overview
As Assistant General Manager, you’ll support the General Manager in running a busy, event‑led pub. You’ll lead FOH shifts, coach and develop staff, manage cash and stock procedures, run rotas and help shape the venue’s identity and events programme.
Key responsibilities
- Lead FOH shifts and take operational ownership in the GM’s absence
- Supervise and coach Duty Managers and front‑of‑house teams
- Manage cashing up, till reconciliation and basic stock control
- Create rotas, support recruitment, onboarding and training
- Drive service standards, guest recovery and day‑to‑day operations
- Support live‑music nights, events and promotions to grow trade
- Ensure licensing, health & safety and food‑hygiene compliance
Person specification — essential
- Management or supervisory experience in pubs, bars or live‑music venues
- Genuine passion for live music and high‑quality bar service
- Hands‑on, proactive leader with energy and strong people skills
- Commercial awareness: comfortable with sales drivers, labour control and cost‑conscious decisions
- Calm under pressure and able to make sound decisions on busy shifts
- Right to work in the UK; available for evenings, weekends and event shifts
Desirable
- Experience with live‑music programming or event nights
- Personal licence, Level 2 Food Safety or formal hospitality qualifications
- Familiarity with EPOS systems
