Adam Bernard Solicitors is seeking an experienced and motivated Family Solicitor to join our growing team. The successful candidate will manage a varied caseload of private and Legal Aid family matters, delivering high-quality legal advice and representation to clients in often sensitive and complex situations.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a caseload of family law matters from instruction to completion
- Handle cases including divorce, financial remedy, child arrangements, domestic abuse, injunctions, and care proceedings
- Conduct Legal Aid work where applicable, ensuring full compliance with Legal Aid Agency requirements
- Represent clients in court hearings and liaise with counsel where necessary
- Draft legal documents including applications, witness statements, and court bundles
- Provide clear, practical, and empathetic legal advice to clients
- Maintain accurate file management and billing records
- Meet departmental billing and performance targets
- Contribute to the growth and development of the family department
Requirements
- Qualified Solicitor in England & Wales with a valid practising certificate
- Minimum 3 years PQE in family law
- Experience handling Legal Aid matters (preferred/essential depending on role)
- Strong knowledge of family law procedures and court processes
- Excellent advocacy, drafting, and negotiation skills
- Ability to manage a busy caseload independently
- Strong client care and communication skills
Desirable
- Law Society Family Law Accreditation or Children Panel membership
- Experience in advocacy and representing clients at hearings
- Experience in care proceedings and PLO matters
Performance Expectations
- Achieve billing targets equivalent to 3.5 times annual salary
- Maintain compliance with Legal Aid and regulatory standards
