Adam Bernard Solicitors is seeking an experienced and competent Supervising Solicitor to lead and oversee its Family Law (Legal Aid) department. The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising fee earners, ensuring compliance with Legal Aid Agency requirements, and maintaining high standards of legal work and client care.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervision & Management
- Supervise junior solicitors, caseworkers, and support staff within the family department
- Provide guidance, training, and ongoing support to team members
- Conduct file reviews and ensure quality control across all cases
- Monitor team performance, billing, and compliance targets
- Legal Aid & Compliance
- Ensure full compliance with Legal Aid Agency (LAA) requirements, audits, and contract obligations
- Oversee Legal Aid billing, claims, and file management
- Maintain accurate records and ensure files meet regulatory standards
- Prepare for and manage LAA audits and reviews
- Casework
- Manage a reduced caseload of complex family law matters, including:
- Care proceedings
- Domestic abuse and injunctions
- Child arrangements
- PLO (Public Law Outline) matters
- Represent clients at court hearings where appropriate and liaise with counsel
- Client Care & Practice Development
- Maintain high standards of client care, particularly with vulnerable clients
- Support the growth and development of the family department
- Assist in business development and building referral networks
Requirements
- Qualified Solicitor in England & Wales with a valid practising certificate
- Minimum 3-5 years PQE in Family Law
- Significant experience in Legal Aid work
- Must meet Legal Aid Supervisor requirements (as per LAA guidelines)
- Strong knowledge of family law procedures and court processes
- Proven experience supervising or mentoring junior staff

- Law Society Family Law Accreditation
- Children Panel Membership
- Strong advocacy experience in family courts
