Description: PLACE LOGIC is an in-house consultancy that works within the Masterplanning & Commercial team at ADAM Architecture. PLACE LOGIC was established through a long-standing relationship between ADAM Architecture and the Urban Design Studies Unit (UDSU) at the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow. PLACE LOGIC helps create better places by uniting expertise in urban design and spatial planning with data-driven insights. We provide tailored consultancy and analysis for projects of any scale, using advanced spatial modelling to improve the social, economic, and environmental impacts of development. Our appraisals help urban designers, local authorities, consultants and developers shape thriving, sustainable communities. We are concluding a two-year Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) with Strathclyde University, partnering also with the Polytechnic of Milan, to develop a new walkability tool that harvests open source digital data about the character of place and gives a measure of walkability based not just upon physical connectivity, but on the individual’s emotional reaction to the character of the urban environment; this is unique. The tool is now listed on the Government’s Digital Planning tool directory and securing commissions as an independent consultancy service as well as being used for the practice’s own projects.
The Position: We are looking for an individual with business development experience to lead the day-to-day management of the team’s activities and to help secure new consultancy commissions, reporting to a senior manager within the Masterplanning & Commercial team. In addition to collaborating with design teams, clients, consultants, community stakeholders, and other parties to meet overall project objectives, they will be responsible for building and promoting our service offering. This will involve actively expanding our client base, with a particular drive to convert opportunities into new commissions and long-term relationships, working directly with the Directors of the practice. The support of our Masterplanning & Commercial, Graphics, and Marketing teams will be available to them as needed.
This appointment offers a rare and exciting opportunity to play a leading role in a small team and provides scope to grow the PLACE LOGIC brand into a leading service provider. Success in this role will rely on the individual’s determination to pursue and secure new business.
