A leading professional services advisory firm is looking for an experienced Senior Manager to join its Financial Services Cyber Security team. This role is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious cyber security professional to shape and drive the strategic cyber agenda for financial institutions. The successful candidate will play a critical role in advising clients on cyber resilience, regulatory compliance, and security best practices. You will lead high-impact engagements, help financial organisations navigate complex cyber threats, and work closely with senior executives and stakeholders to develop and implement robust security strategies.

This is a leadership position that requires both technical and strategic expertise. You will manage teams, oversee project delivery, contribute to thought leadership, and identify opportunities for business growth. The role provides the chance to work on cutting-edge cyber security challenges in the financial services sector while developing innovative solutions that address regulatory requirements, risk management, and cyber governance. The position is hybrid, with the flexibility to work remotely while ensuring strong engagement with clients and internal teams 2-3 days per week in the office (Edinburgh or Glasgow).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Client Advisory & Relationship Management
    • Act as a trusted advisor to financial services clients, providing expert cyber security guidance and ensuring compliance with industry regulations, frameworks, and best practices (e.g., FCA, PRA, NIST, ISO 27001, GDPR).
    • Develop and maintain strong relationships with senior stakeholders, including CISOs, CIOs, Risk Managers, and Board Members, ensuring that cyber security remains a top business priority.
    • Identify key cyber security challenges within financial organisations and provide tailored solutions to mitigate risks and enhance resilience.
    • Support clients in cyber risk management, governance, and regulatory compliance, helping them to align their security strategies with business objectives and industry mandates.
  • Strategic Leadership & Business Growth
    • Work closely with the Financial Services Industry Group to define, shape, and implement go-to-market strategies for cyber security services.
    • Identify and qualify business opportunities, ensuring that client challenges are effectively addressed through the firm’s cyber security solutions and risk advisory services.
    • Contribute to the firm’s thought leadership by delivering industry insights, white papers, and commercial campaigns on cyber risk and security trends.
    • Lead teams in responding to Requests for Proposals (RFPs), developing compelling proposals, and securing new business opportunities.
  • Project Leadership & Cyber Security Delivery
    • Oversee and manage complex cyber security engagements for financial services clients, ensuring successful project delivery within agreed timelines and budgets.
    • Provide strategic oversight on a wide range of cyber security areas, including: Threat and vulnerability management, Identity and access management (IAM), Cloud security and data protection, Cyber incident response and resilience, Security architecture and digital transformation initiatives.
    • Review technical assessments, risk reports, and compliance documentation, ensuring clarity and actionable recommendations.
    • Ensure all deliverables meet the highest quality standards, while mentoring and developing junior team members.
  • Team Management & Mentoring
    • Lead and develop high-performing teams, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous learning.
    • Provide coaching and mentorship to junior team members, helping them build their cyber security expertise and consulting capabilities.
    • Encourage a collaborative working environment, ensuring alignment between teams and strong knowledge-sharing practices.

To be successful in this role, you should have:

  • Financial Services Cyber Security Expertise – Strong understanding of security best practices, regulatory frameworks (FCA, PRA, NIST, ISO 27001), and industry-specific challenges.
  • Client & Stakeholder Management – Ability to build relationships with C-level executives, regulators, and key financial services stakeholders.
  • Strategic Leadership & Business Acumen – Experience in developing go-to-market strategies, identifying business opportunities, and responding to RFPs.
  • Project Management Experience – Ability to manage multiple complex engagements, ensuring on-time and high-quality delivery.
  • Technical & Risk Advisory Skills – Experience providing guidance on cyber risk, security governance, incident response, cloud security, and digital transformation projects.
  • Communication & Presentation Skills – Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to deliver engaging reports and presentations to senior audiences.
