Lecturer in Games Design
Location: Rotherham
Salary: Up to £32,199 per annum + Market Force Supplement (depending on experience and qualifications) + benefits
Hours: Full time (37hours per week, all year round)

The Role
This is a fantastic opportunity for a games expert to move into the classroom to share their knowledge and expertise influencing the next generation of gaming professionals.
Within this role, the successful candidate will be responsible for delivering outstanding teaching and assessment in Levels 1-3 and elements of Games Development. With an enthusiastic and engaging approach, you will have the ability to motivate students and support them to achieve their potential.
You will be responsible for the success of students and providing an enriched curriculum, monitoring student progress and ensure timely completion and achievement. This will include recruitment, providing advice and guidance to students on their progression routes, and developing industry links that provide them with enrichment and work experience.
You will play an important role in developing creative resources to inspire outstanding learning and will be responsible for the monitoring and tracking of learner progress to promote positive outcomes for learners.
Skills and Qualifications
- Candidates should be an effective and motivated team player, with excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with colleagues and management to achieve strategic and organisational objectives.
- You will hold a vocational qualification at Level 4 or above or hold relevant work experience, as well as a relevant teaching qualification and assessors award, or be willing to work towards.
- You will hold a Level 2 (or equivalent) qualification in English and Maths or be willing to work towards.
- You will be able to bring the subject to life, using combined methods of practical, theoretical and digital which will engage your learners and provide them with the best skills, knowledge and behaviours for the future.
The ideal candidate will have knowledge and experience in:
- Game design theory
- Game development – Unreal Engine
- 3D art – Autodesk Maya, Adobe Substance 3D Painter, sculpting
- Traditional art
- Concept art
- Adobe Suite
- Industry experience in games
- Experience teaching UAL and/or BTEC
Department Info
You will work as part of the curriculum team at the campus and you will also closely work with and take direction from their Curriculum Team Leaders. You will be line managed by the Curriculum Manager.
