Overview
Warehouse Operative – Location: Huddersfield
Salary: £25,350 per annum, plus overtime
Hours: Monday – Friday, Weekend Work. Flexibility will be paramount for this role which includes early starts and late finishes.
Vacancy Type: Full Time (approx. 37½ hours per week) Permanent.
The Role
To manage, organise and implement the safe and efficient receipt, storage and dispatch of all finished goods at Principle. Managing processes and systems, in order to ensure goods are checked, inventories updated, and items are dispatched appropriately and productively in order to service the business efficiently. Undertaking Goods In, forklift driving, and driving duties where reasonably practicable to move and store goods. Be able to effectively communicate and work as part of the warehouse team and the wider Principle team including Project Manager, Operations Manager, Installation Manager and Design teams.
Responsibilities
- Organise the safe loading/unloading of goods into and out of the warehouse, in line with company processes and procedures, and using the appropriate equipment. Ensure all inbound/outbound paperwork is completed in full.
- Ensure all goods are correctly designated, taken to the appropriate holding area or warehouse location in a safe and productive manner.
- Ensure that all goods are stored safely and in an appropriate manner and are maintained in good order in the relevant area.
- Pick and pack of items from warehouse locations, ensuring 100% accuracy against pick lists.
- Work effectively within the warehouse team to ensure that all tasks are completed.
- Conduct regular stock checks in line with instructions given.
- Conduct quality checks in line with instructions given.
- Ensure all working areas are kept safe, tidy, and free of any H&S hazards. Highlight any hazards immediately to Supervisor / Manager.
- Report any defects with equipment immediately to Supervisor / Manager.
- Be proactive in creating a safe working environment by leading on the implementation of Health & Safety policy, systems & procedures ensuring all warehouse areas are maintained in a tidy and safe manner.
Skills and Qualifications
- Minimum 1 years of warehousing experience.
- Must have a Bendi Truck License.
- Communication skills. Able to read, write and speak English language at a level necessary to follow written and verbal instructions and fulfil duties efficiently.
- Interpersonal skills: Can establish and maintain a positive effective working relationships with team members, co-workers, or clients particularly under pressure and strict deadlines.
- Detail orientation: Good level of attention with a focus on accuracy when dealing with quantities and item description.
- Organizational skills: Warehouse operative must be organized with the ability to follow a schedule but also flexible to adapt to changing circumstances or priority deliveries.
- Health & Safety awareness: Ability to follow instructions and abide by all H&S rules issued.
- Physical aptitude: The job requires a level of physical activity, involving manual handling and use of mechanical equipment.
