The Solicitors are an independent, award-winning law firm offering legal advice and help to both individuals and businesses across Sussex.
This is an exciting opportunity for a Private Client Solicitor or Legal Executive to join their friendly Private Client team at Barwells in Newhaven. The ideal candidate would have experience with elderly client management; however this is not essential. The successful candidate will provide cost-effective support to the Partner and will be working alongside other Solicitors and Practitioners within Private Client. The role will be focussed on services for elderly clients such as preparation of wills, powers of attorney and probate, together with the management of elderly client affairs where the Firm is acting on their behalf.
Key Responsibilities
- To undertake certain elements of fee-earning work either independently or under supervision. In particular:
- file creation
- generation of suitable client care correspondence
- completion of client questionnaires
- drafting of relevant documentation
- attendance at routine meetings
- management of elderly client affairs including healthcare and finances
- Manage routine client enquiries and communications
- Manage the collation of matter start and matter completion data and prepare all claims for costs
- To progress client matters with care and to a high standard, in compliance with internal processes
- To work with Directors and other Private Client Practitioners, playing an active role in developing new business
- To deliver fee income in line with targeted objectives
- To keep informed of all changes in the Law and Practice and maintain relevant CPD
- To supervise, support and develop immediate support staff
- To perform work in line with the firm's risk procedures, comply with the Solicitors Accounts Rules and the Rules on the Professional Conduct of Solicitors
- To ensure the confidentiality of all the firm's and client's data
- Other duties commensurate with the post as designated from time to time by the Partnership
Skills and Qualifications
- Be highly organised and able to manage and diarise own case load
- Have excellent communication skills both with clients and other members of the team
- Be able to work independently but seek advice from other members of the department when necessary
- Be proactive, forward thinking and able to cope well under pressure
- Have good computer literacy and knowledge of case management systems
- Be hardworking and have a positive attitude
- Wish to deliver a high-quality service
