Nursery Practitioner

Location: Stirling

Salary: National living wage

Hours: Full Time 34 hours, Part Time 25 hours

The Role

  • To create a warm and welcoming environment
  • An ability to use own initiative and share ideas and information
  • A willingness to learn skills in identifying and meeting the children\’s needs individually and within a group.
  • A willingness to learn skills in observation and tracking children\’s development through Learning Journals.
  • Learn good knowledge and understanding of current documents & resources used and how to put the document into practise.
  • The ability to work within a team, maintaining positive relationships and developing productive teamwork.
  • Listen to advice/constructive criticism from peers/management and act upon it.
  • An awareness of Health and Safety within the nursery and ability to report any hazards for the purpose of risk assessments
  • Be supportive and diplomatic in your approach towards parents and children.
  • To have and show commitment to Little Stars Nurseries policies and Procedures
  • To attend occasional staff meetings outside of working hours (time for this will be compensated)
  • A willingness to continue with training to aid both the nursery and your own personal development
  • To ensure the wellbeing of all children and their development by providing stimulating, rich learning experiences
  • To work as part of a Team alongside your colleagues

Skills and Qualifications

  • You must possess a HNC or SVQ III in Childcare and Education or equivalent.
  • You must be registered or gain your registration with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC).
  • Knowledge and understanding of:
  • The individual development needs of young children
  • The central role of parents / carers in the lives of young children and respect this role.
  • Local and National guidelines, Curriculum, childcare provision and procedures.
