Vacancy Type: Permanent, Full Time

Brighton College Prep School is seeking to appoint a Teacher of PE and Games (with a specialism in netball) to start as soon as possible.

Role Specification
  • To pro-actively lead and direct the teaching and learning of netball in the Prep School under the guidance of the Director of Sport.
  • To support in the teaching and coaching of swimming to pupils from Reception to Year 6. A strength in this area is desirable.
  • To teach athletics to pupils in Years 3 to 6. A strength in this area is desirable.
  • To inspire and motivate pupils and outside of the classroom to enable potential to be reached.
  • To teach PE and Games to pupils in Reception to Year 6.
  • To support the department in the organisations of weekly fixtures for pupils in Years 3 to 6.
  • To liaise with the Director of Sport and Head of Sport.
  • To be responsible for the behaviour and discipline of children during PE lessons in accordance with the school behaviour policy.
  • To contribute to the program of activities available for 'very able' children.
  • To support the department in ensuring that all PE equipment is maintained and in good order and be responsible for ordering new equipment.
  • To maintain the effectiveness of the departmental area on the Prep Hub and the website as a valuable source of guidance for pupils and parents.
  • To celebrate pupils' work through displays throughout the department and around the school.
  • To liaise with other departments and maximise any opportunities for cross-curricular links.
  • To provide relevant materials and activities for open mornings and evenings.
  • To attend Parents' evenings where necessary and write reports.
  • To support in developing subject schemes of work and curriculum overviews.
  • To take an active role in delivering after school clubs and activities.
  • To work towards a successful subject review.
  • To liaise with both parents and the Deputy Heads (Academic) on departmental curriculum matters.
  • To prepare and update a handbook for the department.
Safeguarding Responsibilities

This role will involve daily contact with pupils, and the successful candidate will be engaging in regulated activity relevant to children. All staff and volunteers have a responsibility for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young persons for whom they are responsible and with whom they come into contact.
