Location: Field-based across Southern England - ideally Oxford or Reading region.

Salary: £33,000-£35,000 DOE, plus overtime, commission and benefits. (OTE £40,000-£48,000)

Hours: Full time, 40 hours per week

AMS (Advanced Machinery Services Ltd) is looking for a Field Service Engineer to service, repair, maintain and install specialist woodworking machinery at customer sites across Southern England and occasionally further afield.

About AMS

AMS specialises in the supply, installation and maintenance of woodworking machinery from brands including SCM, Homag, Robland, Weinig and Striebig. Our customers range from small workshops to major UK manufacturing facilities, so no two days are the same. We also sell, service and support Wadkin, Wadkin Bursgreen, Doucet, Bala and Stenner machinery and are the main UK and Ireland dealer for Leadermac. With a superb industry reputation, AMS is a secure, forward-thinking business offering a friendly and professional working environment.

The role

Working as part of our experienced Field Service Team, you will:

  • Diagnose electrical and mechanical breakdowns and faults
  • Service, repair and install specialist machinery
  • Fit replacement parts and test equipment
  • Complete planned preventative maintenance
  • Respond to emergency call-outs and unplanned repairs
  • Liaise with the Service Department at head office
  • Complete all required paperwork promptly
  • Maintain excellent workmanship and safety standards
  • Support our head-office workshop engineers when required

The position involves regular travel and occasional overnight stays. All associated costs are covered by AMS.

About you

You will need:

  • Proven Field Service, Mechanical or Electrical/Mechanical Engineering experience
  • Strong electrical and mechanical skills
  • Competent electronic fault-finding ability
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
  • A full UK driving licence
  • Flexibility to travel and occasionally stay away
