About the Role
We are seeking a reliable and experienced Domestic Cleaning Supervisor to oversee the day-to-day cleaning operation, supporting and supervising the cleaning team to ensure the highest standards are consistently achieved. This is a hands-on role where you will lead by example, taking an active role in cleaning duties while ensuring effective schedules, teamwork, and safe working practices are maintained. You will be responsible for promoting a positive team culture, ensuring compliance with health and safety procedures, and helping to create a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for staff, visitors, and service users.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and support the cleaning team, ensuring consistently high standards are maintained
- Carry out cleaning duties and quality checks to ensure excellent standards
- Monitor cleaning schedules and ensure all areas are completed as required
- Train, support, and develop team members, ensuring procedures are followed
- Organise deep cleaning during holiday periods and planned shutdowns
- Manage cleaning materials, equipment, stock levels, and ordering
- Ensure safe use of cleaning chemicals and equipment in line with COSHH regulations
- Complete relevant records, checklists, and documentation
- Report hazards, defects, and maintenance issues promptly
- Promote a strong health and safety culture
- Work closely with colleagues to support events and operational requirements
Person Specification
- Previous experience in a cleaning supervisory or team leader role is essential
- Experience managing or supporting a cleaning team
- Good understanding of cleaning standards, COSHH, and health & safety procedures
- Strong organisational and communication skills
- Reliable, professional, and able to work independently
- Positive approach with the ability to motivate and support others
- Commitment to maintaining a safe and high-quality environment
