FILTROX Carlson Ltd | Barnoldswick, Lancashire, BB18 5HP

£49,000 to £56,000 including shift allowance | Full time, permanent

Paid breaks | Enhanced overtime | Training provided where required

Put your manufacturing experience to work in a role that combines

operating the primary production machine with leading a team of three to six people.

At FILTROX Carlson, you’ll use your knowledge of machinery and production processes every day, taking responsibility for how the machine runs and how your team performs.

Our Barnoldswick site has invested in a new production line, which is now operational. You’ll have the opportunity to contribute ideas, improve processes and help the team deliver safe, consistent, high quality production.

We welcome experienced supervisors and manufacturing operators who are ready to take their first step into supervision.

What you’ll receive

£49,000 for the three shift cycle or £56,000 for the four shift cycle, including shift allowance.

Overtime at time and a half on weekdays and Saturdays, and

double time on Sundays.

33 days’ holiday including bank holidays, with most leave set around machine shutdowns and approximately four to seven days available to book separately.

Company pension contribution of 3%.

Training where required to support you in the role.

Shifts run from

7am to 7pm and 7pm to 7am, including nights and weekends.

A three week rota combining day and night shifts. You’ll work an average of

44 hours per week and be paid for 48 hours.

Four day shifts, four days off, four night shifts, then four days off. You’ll work an average of

42 hours per week and be paid for 52.5 hours.

You’ll need to work across both shift cycles depending on the needs of the business.

What you’ll take responsibility for

Reporting to the Production Manager, you’ll personally operate the primary production machine while supervising the team and taking responsibility for the shift’s safety, output and quality.

You’ll:

  • Operate the machine, monitor the process and resolve production problems within your capability.
  • Organise the shift, allocating people and work around production and delivery priorities.
  • Maintain safe working practices, supporting risk assessments and addressing concerns promptly.
  • Protect product quality, ensuring process checks are completed, recorded and acted on.
  • Coordinate with maintenance, engineering and technical colleagues to resolve issues affecting production.
  • Develop your team through training, feedback and appraisals, managing attendance and performance fairly.
  • Improve ways of working, reducing inefficiency and maintaining hygiene, housekeeping and 5S standards.

What you’ll bring

You’ll have several years of manufacturing experience, with a sound understanding of

machine operation, production processes and safe working.

Experience in paper manufacturing, paper converting or other process industries would be particularly valuable. Relevant backgrounds could also include chemicals, print, textiles, food or pharmaceutical manufacturing.

You’ll be comfortable making practical decisions, communicating clearly and staying calm when production gets demanding. You’ll set standards through your own work and help colleagues understand what is expected.

You don’t need to have held a supervisor title. Experience training colleagues, coordinating work or taking responsibility on the factory floor could provide the foundation to step up.

IOSH or ILM qualifications, ideally at Level 3, would be beneficial. Some training will be provided where required.

No agencies, please. Visa sponsorship is not available for this role.
