Albert Innes Ltd is one of Leeds' longest-established electrical contractors, with a proud heritage dating back to 1905. We deliver high-quality electrical and building services across commercial, industrial, education, healthcare, and public sectors.
We are looking for an experienced Electrical Estimator to join our team. Reporting to the Managing Director, you will be responsible for producing accurate, competitive, and commercially-sound estimates, helping secure profitable contracts and maintain strong client relationships.
Key Responsibilities:- Review drawings and specifications to quantify materials, labour, and project requirements.
- Prepare detailed electrical estimates for pre-designed and design & build projects ranging from £50k up to £1.5m.
- Identify commercial risks, assumptions, and exclusions to protect profitability.
- Recommend alternative installation methods or value engineering opportunities that deliver cost savings and efficiency gains.
- Attend pre-tender, mid-tender, post-tender, and site meetings as required, providing expert input on feasibility and commercial impact.
- Support contract awards and hand over secured projects to project managers, ensuring a smooth transition and continuity.
- Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, materials costs, and market conditions to inform estimating strategies.
- Proven experience estimating electrical works for commercial projects, ideally projects valued £50k-£1.5m.
- Strong commercial awareness with the ability to spot financial risk, scope gaps, and opportunities early.
- Proficiency in IT, including estimating software (Trimble Contract Master), Excel, and Word.
- Solid knowledge of electrical materials, construction methods, and installation techniques.
- Excellent time management skills with a tidy, methodical approach to documentation.
- Electrical qualifications (NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, HNC/ONC, or equivalent).
- Experience with NICEIC or ECA-accredited contractors.
- Familiarity with design & build projects and value engineering.
- Knowledge of JCT and NEC contract frameworks.
