Night Supervisor £32,000 per annum (higher salary available for the right candidate) Permanent | Full Time Hours: 12:00am to 9:00am, Monday night to Saturday morning Birmingham (B8 1BG) The Opportunity An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Night Supervisor to join a busy and fast-paced transport and distribution operation in Birmingham. Reporting directly to the Operations Manager, you will play a key role in overseeing the overnight inbound trunking operation, managing people and resources effectively while ensuring the smooth picking and loading of morning collection and delivery vehicles. This role would suit someone from a transport, logistics or distribution background who enjoys leading by example, thrives in a fast-moving environment, and isn't afraid to roll their sleeves up when required. There is also a clear progression pathway, with the potential to develop into a Shift Manager position as part of the company's long-term succession planning. Key Responsibilities * Import and prepare XPO files for distribution planning * Plan inbound trailers and create pick sheets * Allocate labour and resources to maximise productivity and ensure vehicles depart on schedule * Ensure all freight is scanned accurately both inbound and outbound, achieving the target KPI of 100% * Support operational activities with a hands-on approach, including MHE usage * Liaise effectively with internal departments and key stakeholders * Escalate incidents, damages, delays and operational issues promptly to management, including photographic evidence where appropriate * Train, coach and develop team members, including induction training for new starters * Maintain high standards of Health & Safety, housekeeping and site compliance * Provide cover for the Shift Manager when required * Support continuous improvement by identifying operational issues and implementing solutions * Carry out any other reasonable management duties as required What We're Looking For Essential Requirements * Previous experience in a Team Leader, Supervisor or Management role within a transport or logistics environment * Counterbalance FLT Licence (Essential) * Strong IT skills * Experience using or understanding Transport Management Systems (TMS) * Good understanding of Health & Safety requirements within a warehouse or transport operation * Ability to lead a small team and drive performance * Willingness to take a hands-on approach and support operational activities when needed * Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify operational challenges and implement improvements What's on Offer? * Salary of circa £32,000 with flexibility for exceptional candidates * Permanent, full-time position * Stable and growing transport operation * Genuine career progression opportunities * Potential pathway into a Shift Manager role * Opportunity to make a real impact within the business and influence operational performance Apply Now If you're an experienced Transport Supervisor, Logistics Team Leader, Warehouse Supervisor, or Night Operations professional looking for your next challenge and the opportunity to progress into management, we'd love to hear from you.
