My client are looking to source a Senior or Principal level Ecologist to their Derby based office. This position would suit an Ecologist or Senior Ecologist looking to make the next step to Senior or Principal Level.
Ideally you will have FISC level 3 or higher, alternatively experience in Botanical Identification would be advantageous.
Essential Skills and Experience:- A clear and proven passion for ecology and the environment.
- Experience in managing or guiding junior ecology team members.
- Possession of a survey license for protected species (like bats or newts) OR proven specialist expertise in another ecological area (such as botany or invertebrates).
- Experience conducting habitat surveys (Phase 1 or NVC/UK Habitats) AND/OR protected species surveys.
- Experience in creating and putting into practice ecological mitigation measures.
- Experience in the technical review of ecological reports.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively.
- Strong communication abilities for interacting with colleagues, clients, and other relevant parties.
- Current full or chartered membership with CIEEM (or eligibility to become a member).
- A full driving license and access to a personal vehicle.
- Experience in sales or business development, or a willingness to learn these skills.
- Experience with Ecological Impact Assessment (EcIA), BREEAM, or biodiversity net gain.
- Advanced skills in a specific ecological area (e.g., bats).
- Demonstrated enthusiasm and skills in a particular ecological specialization (e.g., bats, newts, botany).
- A degree or equivalent qualification in an ecology-related field.
- Experience using QGIS or ArcGIS (training will be provided if needed).
- Previous experience holding European Protected Species Mitigation (EPSM) licenses for species like great crested newts or bats.
- Possession of specialist mitigation class licenses, such as a Bat Low Impact Class license or a Badger class license.
This is a hybrid position requiring 3 days per week in the Derby based office. A car allowance of up to £5000 is also available in addition to the listed salary.
