Alexander Daniels are currently supporting a dynamic and forward-thinking SME business in their search for an experienced Financial Accountant to take ownership of day-to-day accounting operations and contribute to the company's continued growth. Reporting into the Finance Director, you'll be responsible for the full spectrum of financial accounting activities. From month-end close and statutory reporting to payroll and tax compliance, this is a fantastic opportunity to make a real impact and bring your ideas to the table.
Key Responsibilities:
- Managing accounts receivable, accounts payable, and general ledger processes
- Preparing monthly and annual financial statements, liaising closely with the company's external tax advisors
- Overseeing VAT, corporate tax, and customs compliance
- Supporting annual audits and working alongside external auditors
- Leading payroll accounting and monthly shareholder reporting
- Driving process improvements and contributing to optimisation projects
- Collaborating with the company owner and wider business teams
The ideal candidate will be a Qualified Accountant (CIMA, ACCA, ACA, or AAT/Qualified by Experience candidates may also be considered) with a strong background in financial accounting within an SME environment. You will need to have meticulous attention to detail and a structured, proactive approach with advanced Excel skills. Proficiency in Xero accounting software would also be a benefit, although this is not essential.
