Job Description Alexander Daniels are partnering with a growing business to recruit a Senior Management Accountant. This opportunity would particularly suit a first-time mover from practice, an Audit Senior, or someone with a strong technical accounting background who is looking to take the next step into a more commercial and people-focused position. As Senior Management Accountant, you will act as a senior member of the finance team, providing day-to-day guidance, coaching, and support to Management Accountants, Assistant Management Accountants and Finance Assistants. You will play a key role in ensuring the month-end process runs smoothly, financial reporting is accurate, and junior team members continue to develop professionally. You'll be confident challenging information, presenting findings to senior stakeholders, and discussing financial performance directly with the CFO and wider leadership team. Provide day-to-day management, support, and coaching to members of the finance team. Review management accounts, journals, reconciliations, forecasts, and reporting packs to ensure accuracy, consistency, and high-quality output. Conduct regular feedback sessions and support performance development plans. Arrange and deliver training programmes to continuously improve technical and commercial knowledge within the department. Act as the first point of escalation for technical accounting and process-related queries. Promote a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and professional development. Month-End & Financial Reporting Maintain a strong focus on current month accuracy, identifying key findings, trends, risks, and opportunities within the results. Own a portfolio of management accounts, including full P&L responsibility and detailed financial commentary. Complete and review balance sheet reconciliations and balance sheet reviews to ensure integrity and accuracy of financial information. Deliver detailed variance analysis against budget, forecast, and prior year performance. Ensure robust documentation and audit-ready financial records are maintained at all times. Support annual budgeting and planning processes. Provide commercial insight and recommendations to operational stakeholders. Develop strong relationships across the wider business, helping non-finance stakeholders understand performance drivers. Identify opportunities to improve finance processes, controls, and reporting efficiencies. Take ownership of key technical accounting areas and reconciliations. Support continuous improvement initiatives across the finance function. Ensure all working papers and documentation meet internal and external audit requirements. Coordinate financial information requests during audits and act as a key contact for auditors. Stakeholder Management Present financial results, trends, and insights confidently to senior leadership. Support discussions with the CFO and other senior stakeholders, providing clear and concise financial analysis. Anticipate stakeholder questions and proactively prepare supporting analysis and information. Qualified ACA, ACCA, or CIMA. Strong management accounting and financial reporting experience. Previous experience reviewing the work of others and providing coaching or mentoring. Confident interpreting financial information and communicating findings clearly. Advanced Excel skills; knowledge of Power Query, VBA, or Microsoft Copilot would be advantageous. A natural coach who enjoys developing people and helping teams improve.
