Network operators face increasing pressure to deliver greater capacity, accommodate renewable generation, support electrification, and improve system resilience.

As Managing Director, you will position the business at the centre of these challenges, developing executive-level relationships with DNOs and TSOs, influencing investment decisions, and creating opportunities that deliver tangible value to customers and stakeholders alike.

You will be expected to identify, shape, and secure major commercial opportunities while building a sustainable pipeline capable of supporting ambitious growth targets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Commercial Leadership
  • Develop and execute the UK & Ireland growth strategy.

  • Strategic Customer Engagement
  • Build trusted relationships with Executive Directors, Network Operations Directors, Engineering Directors, Asset Management Leaders, and Procurement teams.
  • Influence customer investment strategies and business cases.
  • Position innovative network solutions as essential tools for increasing grid capacity, operational resilience, and asset performance.
  • Establish the business as a preferred strategic partner across the utility sector.
  • Market Development
  • Identify emerging opportunities arising from network constraints, regulatory change, digitalisation, flexibility markets, and grid modernisation programmes.
  • Represent the organisation at industry conferences, executive forums, trade associations, and stakeholder events.
  • Develop strategic partnerships that accelerate market access and growth.
  • Leadership
  • Lead, inspire, and develop a high-performing commercial organisation.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, customer focus, and successful execution.
  • Work cross-functionally with technical, delivery, product, and executive teams to ensure customer success and commercial growth.
  • Provide accurate forecasting, business reporting, and strategic insights to senior leadership.

About You

You are a commercially driven leader who thrives on winning new business, building influential relationships, and delivering measurable growth.

You understand how DNOs and TSOs make investment decisions.

You know how to navigate complex stakeholder environments and have credibility at executive level within the energy sector.

Most importantly, you have a proven ability to open doors, create opportunities, and convert them into revenue.

  • Key Experience
  • Significant leadership experience within the energy, utilities, infrastructure, or technology sectors.
