AD Energy Recruitment is partnering with a growing and innovative renewable energy business to recruit a Mechanical Service Engineer to support anaerobic digestion and resource recovery facilities across the UK. This is an excellent opportunity for a mechanically qualified engineer who enjoys hands-on problem solving, field-based work, and the opportunity to contribute to the UK's transition towards cleaner, more sustainable energy generation.

As a Mechanical Service Engineer, you'll play a key role in ensuring plant equipment operates safely, efficiently, and reliably across a portfolio of renewable energy facilities. Working independently and alongside site teams, you'll carry out planned and reactive maintenance, fault finding, equipment optimisation, and commissioning support activities.

  • Carry out planned preventative and reactive maintenance across a range of mechanical plant equipment.
  • Diagnose and resolve faults on mechanical systems, pipework, pumps, motors, valves, mixers, conveyors, heating systems, and process equipment.
  • Support the maintenance and optimisation of critical plant assets including heat exchangers, gas handling systems, sensors, safety systems, and associated infrastructure.
  • Conduct mechanical inspections and condition assessments to improve reliability and performance.
  • Support commissioning, upgrade, and improvement projects across operational facilities.
  • Ensure all maintenance activities are completed safely and in accordance with site procedures, RAMS, and Safe Systems of Work.
  • Maintain accurate service records and technical documentation.
  • Work closely with operations and engineering teams to minimise downtime and maximise plant performance.

We're looking for a mechanically skilled engineer who enjoys working in a field-based environment and is comfortable taking ownership of technical challenges:

  • Level 3 qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Minimum three years' experience within a mechanical maintenance, service, or field engineering role.
  • Strong fault-finding and troubleshooting capability across mechanical systems.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Good understanding of Safe Systems of Work, Risk Assessments, and Method Statements.
  • Competent with Microsoft Office and electronic maintenance reporting systems.
  • Anaerobic digestion, biogas, renewable energy, wastewater, or process plant environments.
  • Mechanical fitting and plant maintenance experience.
  • Welding and fabrication skills.
  • CompEx Mechanical (Ex11).
  • CSCS Trade Card.
  • Experience working within industrial processing facilities.
  • Enjoys working autonomously and solving problems in the field.
  • Is flexible and willing to travel extensively throughout the UK.
  • Thrives in industrial environments and isn't afraid of getting hands-on.
  • Takes pride in delivering high-quality work safely and efficiently.
