AD energy recruitment are supporting an industry leader in automotive/engine test technologies with their recruitment for a resident engineer, located in Cummins Darlington engine plant. This offers an opportunity to work on industry leading engine testing facilities, to maintain, service, calibrate and commissioning of test facility equipment onsite.
The right candidate will need to be electrical or electronics biased with electrical fault finding experience, with some mechanical skills too. Training will be provided and ongoing support throughout.
Rights to work in the UK will be needed.

Job Description
Role: Resident Service/maintenance Engineer
Overview:
1. To maintain, repair, calibrate and service engine testing equipment or competitor equipment.
2. To commission products, test facilities or contractually defined equipment and / or services.
3. To ensure that operation and handover to the client meets the specifications defined.
Functions of the role:
1. As a resident Engineer, he/she would carry out first line fault analysis and, where possible repair of equipment inline with contractual obligations
2. To assist in the in-house testing of engine testing equipment prior to site installation and commissioning.
3. To work closely with project managers, designers and sub-contractors throughout the project phase to provide input to the best methodologies and ideas on function, safety and costs for test plant and services.
4. To work closely with project managers and installation staff to ensure that plant is commissioned efficiently, meets operational specification and that the work is completed within project time scales and budgets.
5. To take ownership of site activities following installation and bring into operation test plant
6. To document and record all parameters and activities and produce handover documentation about supplied equipment and facilities.
7. To ensure that commissioning of plant and service is carried out safely and to that end be actively involved in risk analysis and enforcement of safe working practices always.
8. To keep detailed daily records of all work carried out while working on commissioning/service jobs and maintenance contracts and upon request produce detailed technical report.
9. To maintain accurate records of resource and costs used in the commissioning of plant and to assist the Project manager in obtaining the customers signed acceptance of the contracted work.
10. With support of management & the Skills Initiative to maintain and develop personal skills in the wide range of technologies involved in test facilities.
11. To establish and maintain good working relationships with colleagues and customers. The resident service/maintenance engineer will be the representative on Customer site and must portray the professional image of the company so he/she must act accordingly always.
12. To provide, if requested, technical Hot Line phone support to the service department for the resolution of site related problems.
13. To work strictly within the processes and procedures and to work for the continuous improvement of the Customer Services Area.
14. To actively support safe working practices at the Customers site.
15. To be flexible in their working role & assist in any related work issues within their individual skills set.
16. Ability to work to deadlines & complete all internal paperwork within the required time frame set by SVM.
General requirements of the Role:
• Educated up to minimum of HND level in electronics or equivalent demonstrated experience.
• Wide operational experience of modern industrial plant.
• Automotive or Electrical Engineering background is essential.
• Excellent diagnostic skills and an ability to work unsupervised under pressure
• Good interpersonal skills with all levels of customer’s and employer’s staff.
• Full Driving License.
• Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office & generally I.T literate.
• Needs to be a Team Player and willing to accept responsibility within the role.
• Commitment, Flexibility, Self Motivation and a passion for the role are necessary attributes for this position
