Community Relations Director – Renewable Energy

Remote with Nationwide Travel

We\’re looking for a dynamic Community Relations Director to lead public engagement efforts and champion our mission across the U.S. As the face of our organization in local communities, you\’ll build relationships, deliver compelling outreach programs, and help drive the acceptance of renewable energy projects nationwide.

What You’ll Do:

• Represent the company at town halls, community meetings, and learning sessions across project lifecycles.
• Travel extensively (50–65%) to engage with rural and agricultural communities.
• Build coalitions with local partners, nonprofits, and grassroots organizations.
• Create and manage outreach strategies aligned with project development goals.
• Mentor team members and contribute to cross-functional communications efforts.
• Collaborate with development, siting, marketing, and government affairs teams.

What You Bring:

• 7–15 years in community engagement, advocacy, communications, or public affairs.
• Bachelor’s degree in communications, PR, public policy, or a related field.
• Strong public speaking and presentation skills.
• Experience working in rural/agricultural communities.
• Ability to simplify technical topics for everyday audiences.
• High emotional intelligence, resilience, and adaptability.

Bonus Points For:

• Grassroots campaign experience or coalition building.
• Experience translating engineering or environmental info into plain language.
• Background in renewable energy or sustainability sectors.
