Job Description: Lead Consultant - Smart Buildings Advisory
Company Overview
Acutro Ltd is a pioneering smart buildings software vendor that is standing up a consultancy arm specialising in Advisory services, focusing on data-led building performance, optimisation, MSI, smart enablement design and integration for smart buildings. We partner with leading global building consultancy firms to deliver innovative SMART design solutions for new building developments, refurbishments, and operational enhancements.
Role Summary
As Lead Consultant, you will provide strategic leadership in Acutro\'s Advisory practice, supporting sub-consultancy engagements with alliance partners on new building developments. This role involves overseeing project phases from discovery to high-level SMART design, ensuring alignment with client needs in sustainability, energy optimisation, building performance analytics and occupant well-being. You will deliver expert guidance on how a client can realise outcomes of adopting AI-driven systems, predictive maintenance, and real-time telemetry, contributing to bespoke designs that drive operational excellence and ROI.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead discovery phases: Conduct stakeholder interviews, site audits, regulatory reviews, and data aggregation to identify project drivers, such as AI-optimised HVAC, renewable integration, and barriers to technology adoption.
- Facilitate vision alignment: Run workshops to align client strategies around SMART building design, emphasising sustainability, occupant-centric features (e.g., personalised comfort controls, air quality monitoring), building performance analytics, and future-proofing for self-optimising ecosystems.
- Drive targeted R&D: Evaluate vertical-specific technologies (e.g., healthcare, transport), benchmark against standards like BIM and edge computing, and perform cost-benefit analyses for smart enablement, including integrations with BMS, IoT sensors, metering, and CAFM systems.
- Develop high-level SMART designs: Create bespoke architecture documents, integration roadmaps, performance metrics, and recommendations for asset health scoring, dynamic rules engines, machine learning anomaly detection, and open API frameworks.
- Collaborate with partners: Act as primary liaison with consultancies and their clients embedding Acutro\'s expertise into their projects to enhance SMART capabilities while mitigating risks in consultancy and monetisation.
- Oversee deliverables: Produce detailed reports, schematics, implementation roadmaps, predictive maintenance specifications, and ROI assessments, ensuring adaptability to new builds (e.g., off-site fabrication for carbon reduction).
- Ensure compliance and methodology: Adhere to standards like ISO 52120, BS EN 15232, UK GDPR, and ISO 27001; apply agile principles for iterative delivery, including simulation testing and ESG impact evaluation.
- Mentor teams: Provide oversight to Associate-level consultants, facilitate knowledge transfer, and scale resources for multi-project support.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Over 10 years in smart buildings, with proven expertise and understanding AI integration, data ingestion, sustainable design, and building performance optimisation.
- Chartered Engineer status
- Experience in advisory roles for new building developments, including collaborations with consultancies, asset owners and Enterprise organisation.
- Track record in delivering SMART projects with successful demonstrable outcomes.
- Bachelor\'s or Master\'s degree in Engineering, Digital Engineering, or a related field.
Essential Skills and Competencies
- Knowledge of smart technologies: Real-time telemetry, IoT, converged networks, predictive analytics, AI/ML and building automation.
- Strong analytical skills: Proficient in SWOT analysis, scenario simulation, ROI forecasting, and data-driven decision-making.
- Excellent communication: Ability to lead workshops, produce high-level blueprints, and engage stakeholders on complex topics like cybersecurity and ESG compliance.
- Project management: Agile methodology application, with experience in phased roadmaps (short-, medium-, long-term) and performance tracking.
- Collaborative mindset: Adept at partnering across teams and organisations to foster innovation and mitigate implementation barriers.
Compensation Package
Up to £110,000-£125,000 per year + bonus based on performance
