We are seeking caring, reliable and confident Support Workers to join a small, consistent 2:1 team supporting an adult male living independently in his own home. He has a brain injury and is a wheelchair user, requiring full personal care and safe moving and handling support, including hoisting. He communicates his needs clearly and has capacity, although he may become verbally frustrated if routines change. With calm, patient and consistent support, he quickly settles and engages positively. This role is vital in helping him maintain his independence, participate in meaningful activities and feel confident both at home and in the community.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide personal care with dignity and respect.
- Support safe moving and handling, including hoists and wheelchair use.
- Drive to appointments and community activities.
- Support daily routines, including hydrotherapy.
- Promote wellbeing through calm, consistent support.
- Encourage independence and engagement.
- Support communication and manage frustration sensitively.
Qualifications & Experience of Support Worker:
- Previous experience in a support worker, care assistant or similar role (preferably supporting individuals with brain injuries or complex needs).
- Knowledge of brain injury support or rehabilitation approaches.
- Experience with moving and handling, including the use of hoists and wheelchairs.
- A valid UK driving licence and confidence driving an automatic vehicle.
- A compassionate, calm and patient approach, particularly when supporting individuals who may become frustrated.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to work as part of a consistent team and follow structured routines.
- A good understanding of safeguarding, dignity in care and promoting independence.
