She has diagnoses including cerebral palsy, arthrogryposis (stiff joints), and restricted lung disease due to scoliosis and kyphosis. Her care includes support with a tracheostomy, gastrostomy (PEG), and ventilator dependency for breathing. She is non-verbal but expressive, communicating through laughter, smiles, and crying. She enjoys watching TV, listening to music, being pampered and loves when staff talk to her about her interests. She is also a big supporter of Liverpool Football Club and Warrington Wolves. Staff must always approach her from the front or right-hand side to avoid startling her and spend time with her as she settles to sleep, offering reassurance and companionship.

  • Ability to understand and respond to non-verbal communication.
