Rate of Pay: Β£15.00 per hour
Shift Pattern: 12hrs off rota / 24hrs on rota to work flexibly across 7 days.
Contract: 1 x 36-hour contract.
We are looking for a compassionate, confident and dedicated Team Leader to lead and support a team of Support Workers providing high-quality, person-centred care to an 18-year-old gentleman with complex learning disabilities, a significant visual impairment and communication needs. This is a rewarding, hands-on role where you will combine direct care with day-to-day leadership responsibilities, leading by example and ensuring he receives safe, consistent and personalised support.
He thrives on routine, consistency and positive relationships and enjoys music, sensory experiences, storytelling, spending time outdoors and attending his specialist school. You will support him with his daily living needs, including personal care, medication, mobility and accessing the community, while encouraging his independence, choice and involvement wherever possible. Alongside providing direct support, you will lead, motivate and develop the team, promote best practice, ensure care plans and support strategies are followed consistently, and maintain high standards of documentation and compliance.
You will work closely with his family, healthcare professionals and the wider operations team, maintaining clear communication and helping to create a safe, positive and supportive environment.
Experience and Skills Required for a Team Leader
- Previous experience working within complex care, learning disabilities or a similar care environment
- Full UK Driving License
- Previous Team Leader, Senior Support Worker or supervisory experience
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate, guide and support a team
- Experience of providing hands-on personal care and person-centred support
- A good understanding of care plans, risk assessments and support strategies
- Experience supporting with medication and accurate care documentation
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- The ability to build positive relationships with the individual, their family, colleagues and healthcare professionals
- A calm, patient and confident approach, particularly when supporting individuals with complex communication needs
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise, problem-solve and make appropriate decisions
- A good understanding of safeguarding, confidentiality, dignity and professional boundaries
- The confidence to lead by example, provide constructive feedback and promote best practice within the team
