Shift pattern: Thursday 15:30–21:00 and Sunday 11:00–21:00 during term time. During non-term time, shifts run from 08:30–21:00, so flexibility is required during school holidays.
We are looking for a caring, reliable, and confident
Female Support Worker to join a small team supporting a 14-year-old girl with complex medical and developmental needs in her family home in Leigh. The young person has
non-verbal, and has a
visual impairment. She benefits from a calm, patient, and person-centred approach, with consistent routines and reassurance to help her feel safe and supported.
She requires support with all aspects of daily living, including the preparation of a modified diet due to a history of
oesophageal atresia, alongside assistance with mobility due to
left-sided weakness and physical health needs. At times, she may experience periods of distress and can display behaviours such as scratching or pulling, so a confident and positive approach to behaviour support is essential.
She enjoys spending time outdoors, going for walks, listening to music, participating in sensory activities, using her indoor swing, and relaxing in the hot tub.
Experience and Skills of a Support Worker:
- Experience supporting individuals with
complex needs, learning disabilities, epilepsy, autism, or challenging behaviours would be advantageous.
- A calm, patient, and compassionate approach, with the ability to build positive and trusting relationships.
- Confidence in supporting a young person who is
non-verbal and has limited understanding of her needs.
- Ability to follow care plans, risk assessments, and health protocols accurately.
- Ability to remain calm and respond appropriately in emergency situations.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work closely with family members and other professionals.
- A positive attitude, reliability, and commitment to providing high-quality care.
- Willingness to complete training, including
epilepsy management, Buccolam administration, medication, moving and handling, and safeguarding.
- A full UK driving licence is desirable but not essential.
