Exciting Opportunity: Female Support Worker
Location: Aspatria, Wigan, CA7Hours: 16 hours per week - 10:00am - 16:00pm.Payrate: £12.60 per hour
Are you a compassionate, proactive, and skilled individual looking for a deeply rewarding role where you can make a real difference every day? Join a dedicated, friendly team supporting an intelligent and creative individual living with Neuromyelitis Optica (NMO).
They love their two dogs and one cat, and enjoys arts and crafts, pamper days, and the occasional shopping trip. They live with complex medical needs, including a tracheostomy and PEG, and require support to manage their health, daily activities, and enjoy the best quality of life possible.
Clinical experience is not required but previous care experience is essential.
About the Role
The successful applicant will work as part of a team to deliver highly personalised, one-to-one care. This includes both clinical care and emotional support, enabling the client to participate in meaningful activities and maintain her independence wherever possible.
Core Responsibilities Include:
Airway management including tracheostomy care, suctioning, and speaking valve support
PEG care: administering nutrition, hydration, and medication
Monitoring vital signs: blood pressure, temperature, oxygen saturation
Administering medication including nebulised treatments and accessing a porta-cath
Personal care and support with hygiene routines
Moving and handling, promoting as much independence as possible
Passive physiotherapy (stretching to help prevent contractures)
Emotional and psychological support
Supporting the client to attend appointments and access social or recreational activities
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
An excellent level of written and spoken English
A calm, professional, and compassionate approach
Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow complex care protocols
A genuine interest in providing person-centred support
Confidence or willingness to learn about emergency procedures, including adrenal insufficiency
A friendly nature and ability to be a positive presence in the home
A comfort level around animals (the home includes two dogs and a cat)
