We are looking for the right person to join our care team and support a creative, community-loving individual living with their family in Southampton. Following a cardiovascular accident, this person experiences weakness on the right side of their body, along with some cognitive and short-term memory challenges but these don’t define who they are. What truly stands out is their passion for art and drawing and their love for getting out into the community in their wheelchair.
To help make the most of these outings, we are seeking someone local to Southampton who knows the area and holds a full UK driving licence. Being able to drive is key to supporting their independence and enjoyment of life. Enriching activities will be an important factor in your support, and you will bring a wonderfully empathetic approach to truly make a difference to this person’s life. You will also need to bring previous experience with you in the following:
- Polish Speaking
- Brain Injury
- Behaviours that could be perceived as challenging
What will your shift involve?
In this role, you will be providing high-quality care on a 1:1 basis, ensuring that the individual you support receives compassionate and attentive care tailored to their specific needs. Your responsibilities will include engaging with him in meaningful activities and taking him out in the community to promote their social interaction and well-being. Additionally, you will support with household tasks to maintain a clean and organized living environment that fosters comfort and independence. Clear and confident communication in their preferred manner will be essential to building a strong and trusting relationship.
