Female Support Worker
Pay rate: £14.50 per hour
Shift Pattern: Days and Night Shifts (8am-8pm & 8pm-8am)
We have a rewarding opportunity for compassionate and dedicated personal Support Worker to assist an individual living with Motor Neurone Disease (MND) in Plymouth.This role is focused on providing support in his day-to-day life, helping him maintain a sense of independence while ensuring they can continue to care for their children and engage in family life.As part of this, the support extends outside the home engaging in fun family activities such as soft play, parks and visiting the cinema.To make the most of trips out and about, we need people who are local to Plymouth and know the area, and can drive mobility vehicle (days only), holding a full UK Driving Licence.
Enriching activities will be an important factor in your support, and you will bring a wonderfully empathetic approach to truly make a difference to this persons life. You will also need to ideally bring previous experience with you in the following:
- Complex Care ideally MND, tracheostomy management, ventilation and PEG
- Provide assistance with communication via an eye-gaze computer system.
- Patience and understanding of MND and its effects on communication and mobility.
The role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the life of someone who values their family above all else, especially their children.It is important to understand that the focus of the job is to assist in maintaining a stable family life and provide the gentleman with the support he needs to be an active and present father.

What will your shift involve?
In this role, you will be providing high-quality care on a 2:1 basis, ensuring that the individual you support receives compassionate and attentive care tailored to their specific needs.Your responsibilities will include engaging with them in meaningful activities and taking them out in the community to promote their social interaction and well-being.Additionally, you will support with household tasks to maintain a clean and organised living environment that fosters comfort and independence.Clear and confident communication in their preferred manner will be essential to building a strong and trusting relationship.
