Position: Senior Financial Controller (12-month fixed term) – Location is flexible on a hybrid model (3 days per week on site). Contract: Full-Time, 12 months. Hours: Monday–Friday, 40 hours.
As Senior Financial Controller, you will provide financial decision-making support and act as finance lead in driving improvements in site performance. You will ensure site budgets, capital investments, and three-year plans are optimised and act as a business partner to the Head of Manufacturing.
Your challenge for the Senior Financial Controller:
- Hold fiduciary responsibility for all materials and assets owned by the company on the site.
- Develop and maintain a system of financial control aligned with company policies and procedures to enable fiduciary responsibility.
- Ensure correct recording of all types of inventories (R&M, Milk, Ingredients, etc.) in the company's financial systems.
- Own the site balance sheet.
- Ensure accurate recording of materials consumption and that financial systems report site usage, wastage, and variances.
- Bridge site performance to prior period and forecasts.
- Support Commercial teams with new tenders.
- Manage, maintain and review the Bill of Materials and other product costing models, and update BOMs to maintain accuracy.
- Close the books for the site each month and ensure management accounts report income, expenditures, and closing balance sheet accurately.
- Provide the site management team and MMI leadership with clear, timely, and accurate analysis of financial performance and its impact.
- Drive and manage standardized financial KPIs for the site and report them to site management and MMI leadership on a daily/weekly/monthly cycle.
- Explain site milk costs on a monthly basis.
- Report site financial operational performance with clear reporting to site leadership.
- Review and drive improvements in site forecasting and performance metrics.
- Act as a business partner to the local site manager, ensuring independence is maintained.
- Independently support line manager/senior manufacturing team in identifying and challenging local site performance.
- Coordinate and facilitate the detailed budget and forecasting process of the site, including explaining business impacts to internal, functional, and group colleagues.
- Evaluate and continuously review investment opportunities for the site and support wider team in reviewing network design options.
- Support SKU/Product Family rationalisation opportunities (within/across sites).
- Provide robust financial modelling and systems solutions to new business opportunities across all manufacturing processes of the site.
- Drive improvements in operational budgeting such as bottom-up resource planning.
- Support in customer profitability analysis.
- Collaborate with other controllers as a single team to present consistent reports across sites and ensure information is presented in a standard, professional manner.
- Lead the site finance team and work with the Central Finance team to ensure timely updates to financial systems and reports.
Key skills & experience:
- Qualified Accountant with 5+ years PQE.
- Proven experience in FMCG.
- Ability to operate at all levels and influence decision making.
- Excellent communication skills and a strong team orientation.
- Experience managing a team and working as a business partner with site leadership.
- Self-starter with initiative and adaptability to new areas.
