Activus Recruitment is working on behalf of a well-established and growing business within the construction materials sector to recruit an ambitious Business Development Manager. This is an exciting opportunity for a driven individual to play a key role in expanding the company’s client base and supporting ongoing project delivery.
The Role
As Business Development Manager, you will be responsible for identifying and securing new business opportunities while maintaining strong relationships with existing clients and suppliers. You will be involved throughout the sales and project lifecycle, from initial enquiry through to site visits and scheduling works.
Key responsibilities include:
- Identifying and pursuing new business opportunities
- Gaining commitment from key decision-makers and selling industry-leading products and services
- Networking and building long-term relationships with clients and suppliers
- Developing a strong technical understanding of screed products
- Preparing and submitting tenders, including take-offs from construction drawings
- Attending site visits to take measurements and assess floor preparation
- Scheduling works and arranging labour
- Handling customer queries and resolving any issues efficiently and professionally
About You
The ideal candidate will be proactive, detail-oriented, and confident in winning new business, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Essential and desirable attributes include:
- High level of accuracy with strong attention to detail
- Proven ability to identify and secure new business
- Quarry or ready-mix experience (advantageous but not essential)
- Basic understanding of estimating (beneficial; training provided for the right candidate)

- Strong IT and computer literacy
- Willingness to travel occasionally for site visits
