We are a specialist firm that invests in and provides active support to the businesses that connect the global premium wine trade. Led by experienced consumer sector business operators, we work with investors, the trade, and producers to bring the joy of premium wine to a far wider audience.

There is no requirement for applicants to this position to have any knowledge of the premium wine industry, although a passion for the subject is of course welcomed. We are recruiting for this brand new position in our small HQ team. You will be working at the heart of our operations in a pleasant office environment as part of a small but perfectly-formed team of professionals responsible for the ultimate management of various companies and investments.

The position will likely suit an established accounting manager or accountant of 15+ years experience (either from industry or an accountancy firm) who is local or within close commuting distance of Oxford, and interested in shaping a stable position within our firm for many years ahead. We are seeking someone who wishes to make a long-term commitment with a good work-life balance that works for you.

You will be responsible for:

  • Book-keeping and maintenance of accounting records for multiple companies
  • Preparation of management accounts
  • Tax returns
  • Input of sales/invoices/expenses
  • Payroll
  • Assets
  • Important administrative tasks such as board minutes and other corporate filings

You will work closely with our external accountancy firm as required for audit and statutory return purposes. You will be someone who is happy dealing with a broad spectrum of work, including the somewhat trivial (but very important) data entry, right through to more intellectually stimulating analysis, all of which requires accuracy, attention to detail, and will suit someone with excellent organisational skills.

We operate very much like a small family business, not a big corporate. You will report to and work directly with the Managing Partner with regular exposure to confidential and commercially sensitive matters. You will be a professional with impeccable integrity who can be trusted. You will work with and be part of a straight-talking and objective-orientated team who value honesty and directness.

Office-based in our central Oxford office near to train station. Preferably full-time, but could be part-time 4 days per week or flexible for the right candidate. Good salary and benefits, plus workplace pension and private healthcare.

Requirements:

  • Experienced in book-keeping for UK companies
  • Thorough understanding of corporation tax, PAYE, and VAT regimes
  • Highly organised with very strong attention to detail
  • Outstanding integrity and trustworthiness
  • Ability to start employment during May 2026

Preferable (but not required) skills and experience:

  • ACA / ACCA or equivalent technical accounting qualification
  • Knowledge of Xero accounting software
  • Handling legal contracts and agreements
  • Prior exposure to fund/asset management or other financial services is useful but not necessary

We look forward to your application and will get back to candidates promptly as we aim to make an offer with a start date in early May 2026. Please note that any offer will be subject to clearance of mandatory criminal records and background checks which will be obtained due to the nature of this position.
