ActiveFence is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Senior Violent Extremism Researcher. Here, you will play a crucial role in conducting in-depth research on hateful speech & behaviour, terrorism, and other extremist activities, contributing to our mission of creating a safer and more inclusive online environment for all users. You will be responsible for managing our knowledge and ensuring the quality and standards of research delivery. Additionally, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams, analyse data, generate insights, and propose proactive strategies to address emerging issues. Responsibilities:

  • Conduct in-depth research on violent extremism, analysing qualitative and quantitative data to uncover actionable insights.
  • Ensure the highest quality and standards in the research delivery to our clients, maintaining a high level of accuracy, clarity, and attention to detail.
  • Develop research methodologies and frameworks, continuously improving processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, emerging threats, and best practices in the field of violent extremism, actively seeking opportunities for knowledge expansion.
  • Foster a culture of knowledge sharing and continuous learning within the department.
  • Review, edit, and synthesise multiple reports from other analysts into unified, client-ready outputs.

Requirements:

  • Research experience of 5+ years in academia, journalism, government or private sector in the field of violent extremism - MUST.
  • A proven experience in intelligence, online investigations, or related fields - MUST.
  • Proven experience in writing detailed reports in English - MUST.
  • OSINT experience – MUST.
  • Experience collecting and analysing primary data on terror and other extremist groups - MUST.
  • Native or near-native Arabic proficiency, with proven ability to conduct professional, research-level analysis and write in Arabic - significant advantage.
  • Additional language skills - advantage.
  • M.A. - MUST.
