We are now recruiting for a Principal Planner to join our well‑respected and valued planning service. You will be joining a team of excellent and welcoming professionals who strive to deliver the best service possible, promoting much needed growth and quality design. The district is rich and varied, covering Green Belt, Heritage and Conservation, Town Centres, flood risk, and matters of negotiating development viability and design. In recent years the Council has delivered a raft of regeneration initiatives across Newark and Sherwood, with the Development team playing an important role.
The Principal Planner is responsible for managing and mentoring Planners and Trainees while handling the most complex and challenging development proposals. The role involves providing new perspectives around processes, procedures and best practice to deliver a top‑notch planning service. You will be supported by the Business Manager and a senior tier of the Department.
