We’re looking for a talented Plant Maintenance Mechanic to join our Major Projects Team and play a pivotal role in maintaining and servicing our fleet, plant, and diesel machinery. This is not a workshop role - it’s a hands‑on opportunity in the great outdoors. You’ll be out in the field, working alongside our Major Projects team to deliver servicing, maintenance, and repairs on a wide range of purpose‑built forestry equipment. You’ll have a fully equipped service vehicle with tools included, so you can tackle repairs and maintenance wherever the action happens. These projects are high profile large‑scale construction initiatives delivering critical infrastructure across Australia. This is your chance to make a real impact in the field, ensuring reliability and safety while supporting some of the nation’s most significant infrastructure developments. Our current project is based in the Mudgee NSW region, with locations evolving over time in line with project demands.
As a Plant Maintenance Mechanic, you’ll take ownership of scheduled and unscheduled repairs and servicing, predominately in the field. Your expertise will ensure our equipment remains safe, compliant, and reliable, while meeting the highest standards of safety, quality, and environmental compliance. While this is a standalone field role, you won’t be working in isolation. You’ll be backed by experienced mechanics across the business and supported by workshop locations in most states as needed.
You will be responsible for:
- Carry out scheduled and reactive maintenance on plant and machinery to manufacturer standards.
- Diagnose faults and recommend improvements to maximise reliability and uptime.
- Maintain compliance with project‑specific requirements, including system updates, while working closely with the HSEQ Superintendent.
- Ensure strict compliance with safety, environmental, and site requirements.
- Manage workflow independently, ensuring maximum equipment efficiency through proactive planning and execution.
- Maintain service vehicles, tools, and equipment in excellent condition.
- Work closely with suppliers and repair partners to deliver efficient solutions.
- Represent AIP Group professionally on‑site and communicate effectively with crews and management.
- Complete reporting and participate in toolbox talks and team meetings.
- Working with everything from handheld chainsaws and light vehicles to 40‑tonne excavators.
Why choose AIP Group:
- Permanent full‑time role with long‑term stability
- $120,000 – $130,000 (salaried) per year + super + allowances
- FIFO/DIDO options with Living Away From Home support – Roasters negotiable
- Clear career pathways – grow into leadership, technical specialist, or fleet management roles
- Ongoing training & development to support your career goals
- Employee Benefits Program – enjoy discounts with top retailers
- Strong safety culture – we make sure you get home safe, every day
Essential Qualifications:
- Current Medium Rigid Driver’s Licence (HR preferred)
- Trade qualified Diesel/Plant Fitter or Mechanic (Cert III minimum)
- Proven field‑based maintenance experience
- White Card
- Hydraulics and auto electrics experience
- Welding and small field fabrication
- Cert II Automotive Air Conditioning
- First Aid / CPR
