Active Recruitment are currently working with a number of supportive and well-respected primary and secondary schools across London and Essex who are looking to appoint SEN Teaching Assistants (SEN TAs) to support pupils with additional learning needs. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is passionate about helping children with Special Educational Needs thrive both academically and socially.

About the Role

As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will be supporting pupils on a 1:1 or small group basis, helping them engage in learning and develop confidence within the classroom environment. Many of the pupils you will support may have needs such as:

  • Autism (ASD)
  • ADHD
  • SEMH (Social, Emotional & Mental Health)
  • Speech and Language needs
  • Moderate to complex learning difficulties

You will work closely with class teachers, SENCOs and pastoral teams to ensure pupils receive the support they need to succeed.

Responsibilities

Your responsibilities as a SEN Teaching Assistant may include:

  • Supporting pupils with SEN on a 1:1 or small group basis
  • Assisting the class teacher with lesson delivery and classroom support
  • Encouraging positive behaviour and emotional regulation
  • Supporting pupils with communication, social skills and learning development
  • Helping pupils remain engaged and focused during lessons
  • Building positive relationships with pupils and staff

What We Are Looking For

  • Experience working with children with Special Educational Needs (SEN)
  • Experience in schools, SEN provisions, care settings or youth work (desirable)
  • A patient, empathetic and supportive approach
