ASAP Start. Permanent, full-time contract, 36 hours per week. Redbridge, East London. £31k – £32.5K. Active Recruitment are looking for a Payroll & Finance Assistant to join a secondary school in East London. This will be on a full-time, permanent basis, 36 hours per week.

Overall Responsibilities & Duties

  • To provide a professional, effective and efficient payroll service for the Academy.
  • Duties will include but not be limited to the following:
  • Deliver an accurate payroll function to the business whilst working closely with the Finance Manager.
  • Maintaining payroll information by collecting and processing data, checking and ensuring all payroll forms and pay actions e.g. new starters, leavers, pay changes, claims and expenses are processed correctly.
  • Processing Pensions, Holiday Pay, SMP, SSP and other deductions (must understand manual calculations) and calculating monthly payroll, including preparing reports and exporting data to excel for analysis and approval purposes.
  • Supporting the Payroll Manager with real-time information submissions to HMRC and final year end submissions, including the completion of employees’ P60s.
  • Supporting the month end processes, statutory returns and year end processes.
  • Post monthly payroll journals and monthly recharges through the finance ledger.
  • Liaising with internal and external auditors for all pay related queries.

Candidate Specification

  • Payroll Qualification (AAT, CIPP) or equivalent.
  • Recognised accounting qualifications or Degree.
  • Previous Payroll experience.
  • Good understanding of Payroll functions within a school.
  • Experience of using payroll and finance software.
