Active Pump Services Limited (APS) is a leading clean and wastewater engineering, pump and drainage business that is growing rapidly and winning exciting new contracts across the South East England, Greater London, and South West Home Counties.

We provide specialist services in clean and wastewater management, including drainage, CCTV surveys, pumping systems, tankering, treatment plants, infrastructure asset management, and groundworks — serving commercial, industrial, municipal, and domestic sectors.

As we continue to expand, we’re seeking a Senior Sales & Business Development Manager — a driven, ambitious individual ready to make an impact in a fast-moving, multi-disciplinary business.

The Opportunity

This is an exciting role for a proven senior sales and business development professional with a strong record in B2B and B2C field sales. You’ll ideally have established relationships across civil engineering, water infrastructure, construction, property maintenance, and facilities management sectors throughout the South East, South West England, London, and M25 region.

We’re looking for someone senior who can build and lead new business initiatives, manage key accounts, and help shape APS’s future commercial growth. A technical background — particularly in clean and wastewater systems — would be a distinct advantage.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and secure new business and tendering opportunities across multiple sectors.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with commercial and residential clients.
  • Prepare detailed quotations and proposals in line with company profit targets.
  • Liaise with the production and operations teams to ensure seamless project delivery.
  • Oversee project management of major contracts and ensure client satisfaction.
  • Drive proactive business development and prospecting activity.
  • Develop and implement strategies for sustainable business growth.
  • Build long-term relationships within the clean and wastewater, pumping, and infrastructure markets.
  • Utilise CRM systems to manage pipelines and track performance.
  • Attend industry events, exhibitions, and conferences to promote APS.
  • Contribute to the creation of a new, high-performing sales team.

Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you’ll be:

  • Experienced in Civil Engineering, Clean & Wastewater Transportation, Construction, Facilities Management (M&E, Plumbing, Heating, or Renewables).
  • Excellent Communication and Customer Service skills
  • Skilled in managing key client relationships with asset managers, facilities managers, contractors, developers, and managing agents.
  • Confident working with above and below ground infrastructure, M&E systems, drainage, and pumping solutions.
  • Experienced in B2B and B2C field sales, with a consistent record of achieving or exceeding targets.
  • Proven track record business development and sales/marketing management or related field.
  • Bachelor\'s degree in Facilities or Construction or Building Services Management or Business Management.
  • Self-motivated, professional, and commercially astute with strong organisational and communication skills.
  • Strong Analytical Skills and Business Planning skills.
  • Capable of developing and managing sales forecasts and pipelines.
  • Flexible to travel across London, the South East, and occasionally nationwide.
  • A full, clean UK driving licence holder.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a hybrid work environment

A technical ie building or civil engineering background ie clean and wastewater management will be highly advantageous.
