Location: Gateshead
Pay Rate: £28p/hour
Hours: 07:30am-17:30pm

Overview
Active (Pathways) Solutions are seeking skilled and motivated Mechanical Fitter to join our team. You\’ll be supporting a range of substation projects across Gateshead, contributing to the safe and efficient delivery of high-voltage electrical works.
Key Responsibilities
- Cable Pulling
- Earthing, brazing, switchgear
- Working on transformers
Requirements
To be considered for this role, you must have:
- Valid and up-to-date documentation – including CSCS/ECS card, Safety Passport.
- Proven substation experience – previous work on National Grid or DNO sites is essential.
- Verifiable references – able to provide evidence of experience and competency within the substation or high-voltage industry.
We\’re Looking for Individuals Who:
- Show excellent attention to detail – ensuring precision, quality, and safety at all times.
- Work effectively as part of a team – collaborating with multi-discipline site crews.
- Demonstrate initiative and problem-solving skills – adapting confidently to changing site conditions.
Desirable Additional Qualifications
Having any of the following would be an advantage:
- IPAF (MEWP)
- Telehandler (CPCS or NPORS)
- PASMA
- First Aid
- Manual Handling
- Abrasive Wheels
- Other relevant industry-related courses
