Looking for a rewarding job that allows you to capture and tell the story of our impact in the communities we support across Lancashire? We are currently seeking an Evaluation and Learning Officer who has a curious mindset and can unpick stories of change to understand what causes change. We welcome applicants from a wide range of backgrounds who are keen to work across diverse communities and are passionate about making a difference.

Role and responsibilities

  • Work closely with the Research Manager to support Active Lancashire in project evaluation, storytelling and intelligence gathering.
  • Support the development of appropriate research methods for projects delivered by Active Lancashire and curate stories of change and case studies.
  • Develop data collection tools such as surveys and be willing to use non-traditional methods such as Ripple Effect Mapping to understand impact over time.
  • Produce timely reports for Active Lancashire’s projects for internal and external needs.
  • Support the Research Manager with Active Lancashire’s place investment, focusing on evaluation and learning of the Place Universal Offer covering Fleetwood, West End of Morecambe and Skelmersdale.
  • Travel around Lancashire to support Place Universal Offer work, particularly in the identified priority areas.

Requirements / Qualifications

  • Location: Hybrid working (home and Leyland-based office) with 2 days per week in the office; travel around Lancashire.
  • Salary: NJC Scale 12-22 (£28,598 – £33,699).
  • Contract: Full Time (Permanent – 37 hours per week).
  • Closing date: Sunday 1 February 2026. Interview date: Wednesday 11 February 2026.
  • Experience in evaluation, monitoring, data collection or storytelling related to social impact is desirable; ability to develop and apply research methods; strong written and communication skills.
